It is frustrating though as we have to do this all the time - we fill out tax return forms for many different clients each year and really don't want to have to add our data manually each time. Smile's (released PDFpenPro 7, the latest version of its all-purpose PDF editing tool for Mac OS X, features the ability to proofread and edit the OCR text layer and export to Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF Archive (PDF/A) formats, all with an interface updated for OS X Yosemite. What's more, PDFpenPro and PDFpen 7 support document sharing via iCloud Drive. All versions of Acrobat above v4 on both Windows and Mac were unable to do this so Preview isn't alone. We have to go into Windows and fire up Acrobat Reader 4.0 which has this functionality. On Tiger you can save the edited file, but it prevents it from then being editable again in Leopard you can fill in the form with your data, save it, then open your saved file and edit it again but none of the data you added the first time has been saved. But PDFpenPro goes beyond, with more powerful features. PDF Expert also uses a smaller Ram space as compared to PDFpenPro. When it comes to speed of performance, many will also choose PDF Expert since it does almost 99 of what Acrobat does in a fast and simple way. With PDFpenPro, you can add text and signatures, make corrections, OCR scanned docs and more, just like PDFpen. When picking between PDF Expert and PDFpen, someone with a fixed budget may choose PDF Expert over PDFpenPro since it is cheaper. The best Windows alternative is Foxit Reader. Its not free, so if youre looking for a free alternative, you could try PDF-XChange Editor or Master PDF Editor. Export to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint. The interface has been updated for Yosemite, too. PDFpen is not available for Windows but there are plenty of alternatives that runs on Windows with similar functionality. You can stash your documents in iCloud through the app now, plus create interactive forms. Normally it's a very capable app, but the lack of this functionality is keeping my colleagues using Windows and stopping them from moving to Mac completely. PDFpenPro, a heavy-duty document editing app for OS X, has updated to version 7 with the ability to fix OCR text which is scanned in from a document before exporting to Excel, PowerPoint, or PDF. We need to download empty pdf forms, add some generic details (eg our company name and address) and then save that as a template so we can then open it and fill out through the year for different clients with their own individual data without having to fill in our own address again. If I am to get other software, then PDFpenPro will do what I want for just 49.95, but I would prefer to have Preview do it all for me.
